Server Manager Installation

Traverse uses SQL databases to store data using a separate database for each company. Because Traverse uses Microsoft® SQL Server® as a backend database, you must install Microsoft SQL Server before installing Traverse. Next, follow the steps to install and set up Traverse Server Manager before installing the Traverse Client.

If your installation includes a limited number of users, you can save money by using a runtime version of SQL Server, SQL Server Express, instead of Microsoft SQL Server. SQL Server Express is a fully functional database engine. You can download SQL Server Express from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/Products/sql-server-editions/sql-server-express.aspx

For more information on Traverse compatibility with different versions of SQL Server or SQL Server Express, see the Traverse v11 Hardware/Software Guidelines on the OSAS website.

The Traverse Server Manager is designed to give you the ability to perform application-level data management in SQL databases.

If you require more in-depth management of SQL information or tables, use the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to interface with the data. It is available free of charge directly from Microsoft.
