Hold/Release Invoices
Use the Hold/Release Invoices function to put disputed invoices on hold, release held invoices, split a payment or credit into several parts, or reapply a payment or credit to an outstanding invoice.
If you put an invoice, miscellaneous credit, or cash receipt on hold, it does not appear on the customer's statement, but does continue to age properly. Finance charges are not assessed for held invoices.
Only use the Hold/Release Invoices function for open invoice customers.
- Select a customer whose invoices you want to hold or release from the Customer ID field.
- Click a command button to
- Print the Open Invoice Report.
Select | To |
---|---|
Change Status | Change the status of the selected invoice. Continue clicking Change Status until the applicable status appears or double-click the Status field to toggle the invoice status. |
Activity | Display the Activity Log to view activity. |
All | Change the status of all invoices to Hold or Release. |
Split/Reapply | Split an invoice or reapply a payment. Enter the payment amounts and invoice numbers. If you reapply only a portion of a payment or credit to a different invoice, the remaining portion of the payment or credit remains with the original invoice. When you reapply a payment or credit, the system creates a payment or credit to and a negative payment or credit from. The payment or credit records store in the Open Invoice information. Click OK to save your changes. See Split/Reapply for more information. |
